stepwell project india

Jeroen van Westen: 'To visit a stepwell is to enter into the earth. One leaves the world’s sense of time and space behind and rediscovers the sky in the infinitely still water at the bottom. It is a transformative experience, difficult for me to explain, but one that has utterly changed my understanding of spatial reality, and thus of myself in the world.'

In 2013 Eloi took a trip to the district Gujarat, India. It was the result of a long and interesting artproject called 'Inverse'. Created by Jeroen van Westen. In a 6 year study about Indian Stepwells the result was an exhibition in Pune and the production of two books, printed in Mumbai. Eloi participated in this project and designed and coordinated the printing and assisted jeroen in building the exhibition.
